Product Information General Information : - High quality hardened steel screws, for general use. These screws have a double helix parallel thread with a sharp point for easy starts and reduced shank to prevent wood splitting. Suitable for chipboard, softwood and hardwood. A wide range is available in either countersunk or roundhead with recessed drive. Bright zinc and brass plated finishes available. These have the thread dia. quoted in gauge numbers, i.e. No. 4,5,6 etc. The higher the number the bigger the diameter. The length is shown in vulgar fractions of an inch. A comparison list of metric/imperial sizes is available. Screw guage conversion :- No 4 = 2.79mm No 5 = 3.12mm No 6 = 3.50mm No 7 = 3.78mm No 8 = 4.19mm No 10 = 4.85mm No 12 = 5.51mm
