General Information : -

Tambour doors (also known as 'appliance garages') are increasingly popular in modern styled kitchens. The components supplied with the tambour doors are made to suit carcases made from 18mm thick board. They are available in various sizes finishes and designs (vertical or horizontal opening and standard or deluxe options)

A standard tambour door simply fits within the carcase and has a fascia piece on the top edge (vertical) or side edges (horizontal). A deluxe tambour door features a face fix frame that conceals the carcase edges.

All vertical opening tambours have a patented balanced spring roller mechanism which gives a smooth operation and stops the door safely in any position. This unique roller system has been tested to BS5459 Part 3 - severe rating (50 000 cycles). Side opening tambours run along a guide track on the inside of the cabinet.

All tambour door packs include a comprehensive colour installation guide and template.

For vertical tambours an internal cabinet depth of 260mm is required. The slats are removable for variable heights (the tape should be peeled back slats removed and then the tape re-applied). Please note that if too many slats are removed it will affect the performance of the roller system. The width of the tambour system is not adjustable.

Trouble Shooting - See Below
1) Tambour hard to pull down/close: -
. Correct tension? - half turn only required.
. Are tracks lubricated? - smear with petroleum jelly.
. Ensure there are no obstructions (e.g. protruding screws).
. Ensure front idler roller is rotating freely.

2) Tambour drops easily or shoots back up: -
. Ensure correct tension.

3) Tambour sags when rolled up/door open.
. Make sure it is kept tightly rolled until step 6 of instructions (keep tape on). If it has been allowed to unroll then it will have to be taken out re-rolled and reinstated as step 2. Then follow normal fitting proceedures from step 5 onwards.

4) Loud clicking noise when Tambour is pulled down: -
. Ensure no screws are protruding.
. Ensure tambour is not catching on tracks at top (both sides).

5) Tracks or fascia too short/long.
. Ensure 18mm board is being used.
. Check correct overall cabinet size.
